Position Overview

The Career Counselor will play an essential role in supporting adults as they prepare for and secure employment. This position focuses on providing job readiness guidance, individualized coaching, and connections to local employment and training opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one and group career counseling sessions.

  • Assist participants with résumé writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.

  • Maintain awareness of local labor market trends and employer needs.

  • Coordinate with training providers, employers, and community partners to connect participants with opportunities.

  • Track participant progress, maintain records, and prepare reports as needed.

  • Support The Improvement Association’s outreach and workforce development activities.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred.

  • Completion of at least three (3) college-level courses in Education, Math, English, or a related area.

  • Experience teaching, counseling, or tutoring adults from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

 

Work Environment

This position requires travel within local communities and occasional evening or weekend events. A collaborative, flexible, and mission-driven approach is key to success.
