Parents as Teachers (PAT) – Early Childhood Support

Parents as Teachers (PAT)

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is an evidence-based home-visiting program that supports parents and caregivers from prenatal stages through kindergarten. As part of The Improvement Association’s comprehensive family services, PAT helps families in Emporia, VA, and surrounding areas build strong foundations for their children’s success.

🌱 Key Goals of the PAT Program

  • Promote early childhood development through family engagement and parent education

  • Empower parents to become their child’s first and most influential teacher

  • Detect developmental delays and health concerns early through screenings

  • Strengthen parent-child bonds and improve long-term school readiness

  • Developmental Screenings: Regular assessments of your child’s milestones, hearing, vision, and overall health.

  • Parent Group Meetings: Group sessions offer peer support, shared parenting experiences, and expert tips on child-rearing.
