The 2-Generation Program (or 2Gen for short) is a program that helps both parents and children at the same time. The goal is to help families grow stronger, healthier, and more successful—together.
It’s called “2-Generation” because it focuses on two generations:
Kids (to help them learn and get ready for school)
Parents (to help them with jobs, money, and parenting)
The program offers things like:
Head Start and Early Head Start for young children to learn and get ready for school.
Parenting classes to help moms and dads build strong family relationships.
Job training and money skills for adults so they can find good jobs and manage their finances.
Health care and wellness support for the whole family.
Everything works together to help the whole family succeed.
The Improvement Association runs this program in Emporia and nearby areas. Families in the program have:
Kids who are better prepared for school.
Parents who are getting jobs and earning more money.
Stronger family relationships and better communication at home.
It’s making a real difference in people’s lives.
